The workshop route explores the structures supporting the mining activities that are the workshops, the foundry, the forges and the model room. In these fundamental buildings for the mine the maintenance and repair of the machinery was carried out. The workers were able to rebuild any piece that was necessary for mining. The building was built on the old plant of the first power plant dating back to 1901. The ground floor housed the electrician's laboratory and was equipped to repair the vast range of electrical machinery present in the mine. On the first floor, starting from 1938, all the wooden models necessary for the reproduction in the foundry of spare parts of machinery and other metal objects commonly used in the mine were kept. The workshop for forging and tempering foils (the tips of pneumatic hammers) was modernized and enlarged in 1912 and was a laboratory of fundamental importance for the construction and maintenance of the metal tools necessary for mining. The blacksmiths applied in the modern mining production an ancient art that for centuries has characterized this territory. The foundry was built in 1885 and modernized in 1912. It housed the systems for the melting of cast iron and lead jets of the mechanical elements necessary for the maintenance of the mine plants and for the construction of new machinery. The ovens, the shapes, the molds and the other tools for the fusion are visible. The mechanical workshop was built in 1938 as a vehicle maintenance building. The building was enlarged in 1948 reaching its current size. It was equipped with the most modern technical equipment for small and large carpentry works, a sliding bridge crane for repairing and assembling work machinery and for normal maintenance of transport vehicles.
